A Message from
Treasurer, Pakistan Library Association Punjab
Dear Colleagues,
Pakistan Library Association (PLA) is
heading towards a mature stage after its revival in 2007. Members of
any professional organization are always source of unity, strength
and persuade of any profession. Unfortunately, Librarianship could
not gain its professional status in Pakistan and low membership is
one of the major reasons. PLA remained dead which weakened our
relationship with the association and with each others. Now PLA
(H/Q) alongwith all the provincial branches are active and working
for the betterment of LIS community.
All the regular memberships are
expired on 31st December, 2009, so you are requested
to renew your membership and motivate others to get their PLA
membership and become the part of community.
I have good news for the community
that in General Body Meeting held in the last PLA Conference in
Islamabad, Life Membership Fee have been reduced to Rs. 3000/-. So
you are encouraged to get Life Memberships as in future the rate may
increase. The new rates in amended constitution are as under:-
Life Memberships
Fee Rs. 3000/-
Regular Memberships
Fee Rs. 250/-
Student Memberships
Fee Rs. 100/-
Donor Life Memberships
Fee Rs. 15,000/-
Retired Librarian Memberships Fee
Rs. 100/-
Institutional Memberships
